APRA AMCOS Unveils 2025 Art Music Fund Recipients, Supporting Creative Innovation

APRA AMCOS has chosen 11 composers for the 2025 Art Music Fund, funding original artistic music projects in Australia and New Zealand.

This year’s Art Music Fund from APRA AMCOS will give out AU$82,500 to 11 artists working on innovative compositions. Nine Australian and two New Zealand composers use this fund to write works that make an ongoing artistic difference.

Some of the recipients are Biddy Connor, Cayn Borthwick and Katy Abbott from Australia and Dylan Lardelli and Tatiana Riabinkina from New Zealand. Thanks to the initiative, APRA AMCOS is strongly committed to stimulating creativity and originality in today’s music and art.

Outstanding works from the field include Biddy Connor’s Song to the Cell which gets music from the beeping sounds of an IV machine in a hospital. Connor pointed out that the Art Music Fund gives artists the chance to experiment and work creatively.

Chris O’Neill, Director of Creative Programs at APRA AMCOS, recognized the outstanding ambition and mix of approaches in the applications and called the fund “an important chance” to promote large music and arts projects. It not only gives artists money for their projects, but it also helps them build long-term careers.

The Art Music Fund has paid for more than 100 projects since it started in 2016, which has helped the arts grow considerably in this area.
